Operating system support policy
Moonshot relies on other software components, and more importantly, operating systems on both server- and client-side. We recognise that in current applications and target audiences, long-term support versions of popular operating systems are order of the day, therefore it is the intention of the Moonshot project to follow the support policies of the major operating system vendors/distributions:

- Alpine: We currently support versions 3.8 13, and 3.9, 15 in line with Alpine Linux policy here: https://wiki.alpinelinux.org/wiki/Alpine_Linux:Releases
- Debian/Raspbian: We currently support versions 89, 910, and 10 11 in line with Debian LTS policy here: https://www.debian.org/News/2016/20160425
- Ubuntu: We currently support LTS versions 1618.04 LTS and 1820.04 LTS in line with the Ubuntu release policy here: https://wwwwiki.ubuntu.com/info/release-end-of-lifeReleases
- RedHat and CentOS: We currently use an N-1 minor version policy to support versions 6, 7, and 8. CentOS 6 maintenance support will terminate on 30 November 2020, in line with RedHat and CentOS policy at https://wiki.centos.org
Windows:

- The Windows SSP is a third-party product by Painless Security, LLC and subject to Painless Security's support policy.

- We follow Apple's N-2 support policy. The macOS client for Moonshot is supported on macOS Sierra Mojave (10.1214), macOS High Sierra Catalina (10.1315), and macOS Mojave (10.14).Big Sur (11)
- Earlier versions of macOS may support Moonshot but are not supported by us.
