IETF Standards and Informational Documents

Moonshot is an implementation of the standards developed in the IETF ABFAB working group. These standards define the interactions between the various protocols that make up ABFAB.

The main documents of interest are:

• RFC 7831 - Application Bridging for Federated Access Beyond Web (ABFAB) Architecture - The ABFAB Architecture (how everything fits together)
• RFC 7832 - Application Bridging for Federated Access Beyond Web (ABFAB) Use Cases - A description of motivating use cases for federation beyond the web
• RFC 7055 - A GSS-API Mechanism for the Extensible Authentication Protocol - The GSS-EAP mechanism (how EAP is integrated into GSS to give application integration)
• RFC 7833 - A RADIUS Attribute, Binding, Profiles, Name Identifier Format, and Confirmation Methods for the Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) - How standard AAA traffic is augmented with SAML for richer authorisation possibilities
